We are excited to launch our super cool range of Wild Sub10 merch. Designed by diptribe®, the new range marks the launch of the NOWCA Wild Sub10 Club. T-shirts, Hoodies & Sweatshirts created to celebrate determination and every achievement.
Every product is made from sustainable materials and printed in a renewable energy powered factory.
50% of the profit from every item purchased will go to support the Blue Human Project (BHP) - a non-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) and certified social enterprise that believes in the power of wild water experiences for wellbeing benefits. This includes activities on, in, and around water, such as outdoor swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, SUPYoga, Soundbathing, walking, and more.
Blue spaces (rivers, lakes and seas) have been linked to improved mental health, with some studies suggesting that proximity to water can reduce symptoms of depression and psychological distress. The sight and sounds of water can foster a sense of connection with the natural world, which can be beneficial for overall wellbeing. It is this connection with blue spaces that can help people to live healthier, more independent lives.
A particular issue that BHP aims to solve is access to safe open water swimming for those that are financially disadvantaged. Cost of entry to venues as well as hire costs for essential kit such as tow floats means that the most disadvantaged members of our communities are unable to experience, and fall in love with, open water swimming.
In a recent wellbeing survey conducted by BHP, 94% of respondents felt they would benefit from free access to open water experiences. As a result, BHP will deliver outdoor swimming sessions and cold-water inductions for people in financial hardship as well as those experiencing wellbeing issues, without charge.
Specific groups will also be available for women in peri-menopause/menopause, veterans experiencing PTSD, and adults with mental health issues.
Support has already been given to men’s health group Blue Bloods Wild Swim Club who now have access to tow floats, a water thermometer and changing robes thanks to BHP’s donors and sponsors.
One member of the Blue Bloods says; “I can honestly say that the last time I ever felt this way about the camaraderie within a group was when serving in HM Forces, where you would expect it. The banter and laughs just lift my spirits every time I meet not just the group, but just one or two of the guys having a quiet swim. I can be worried about my cancer (or anything for that matter) and those worries are halved by just meeting up with the guys. I love it.”
